The member of parliament for Binduri and Deputy Minister for Works and Housing, Hon. Alhaji Abdulai Abanga, and the parliamentary candidate for Pusiga and CEO of Buffer Stock, Alhaji Abdul Wahab Hanan, on Thursday, Novermber 2, visited victims of Sunday’s military assault at Garu and Tempane.

The youth of Garu and Tempane in the Upper East Region suffered from military brutality on Sunday, October 29, 2023, around 15.00 GMT.

Over 200 people living in Garu and Tempane were reportedly brutalised by the military.

About 90 of them have since been hospitalised, and two who are in critical condition have been transferred to Tamale Teaching Hospital. One person has been confirmed dead.

According to Hon. Alhaji Abdulai Abanga and Alhaji Hannan, the purpose of their visit was to sympathise with some indigent people of Garu and Tempane who were brutalised, as sons of Kusaug, and not as a government delegation.

Hon. Alhaji Abdulai Abanga Pusiga and Alhaji Abdul Hannah donated GH¢25,000.00 to support the hospital bills of the victims.

They condemned the unprofessional acts by the military in Garu and Tempane and assured the chief of Garu and Tempane that the rest of the nine victims in security custody would be released in the coming days.

They also revealed that the government is still investigating the cause of the brutalities.
