The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) states that it has given clearance to the East Legon and Abelenkpe branches of Marwako Restaurant, while the other branches remain closed.
The Authority, in an update of the alleged food poisoning incident, said that it had collaborated with the management of the restaurant to train its management and staff on “Food Safety Management Systems” alongside implementing corrective action and preventive action programmes.
It noted, however, that “the La Branch remains closed whilst the Spintex Road Branch is going through the process of being formally issued with the requisite food hygiene permit to start operations.”
Last two months, some patrons of the restaurant complained of food poisoning after eating food from their Spintex branch during the weekend.
Viral posts on Twitter and Facebook have accused the restaurant of churning out unwholesome food, causing stomach upsets.
The FDA later proceeded to gather samples of food from the eatery for further investigations and later halted operations of all their branches.
Last month, the Authority profered sanctions against the restaurant, including a fine of GHC 750,000.
