The Office of the Special Prosecutor has announced that it has begun investigations into corruption and corruption-related activities in respect of the auction sale of vehicles and other items by the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority.
In a statement on Monday, the OSP noted that this directive applies to all vehicles and other items transacted between July 1st, 2016 and August 15th, 2022.
Accordingly, the OSP says it has on August 19, 2022, directed the Commissioner of Customs, Col (Rtd) Kwadwo Damoah, to furnish his office by September 30, 2022, information relating to:
1. The particulars and clear description of all auctioned items
2. The quantity of all auctioned items
3. The prices at which the items were auctioned
4. The date of each auction sales
5. The full names, addresses and the telephone numbers of the successful bidders of successful bidders at all the auction sales.
It further ordered the Commissioner of the Customs Division to stop all auction sales until the completion of investigations.
The directive comes days after the OSP directed the Customs Division to provide the OSP with details on “Customs Advance Rulings” between July 2017 and December 2021, following the Labianca Limited saga involving Council of State member, Madam Eunice Jacqueline Buah-Hinneh.
