The Association of Ghana Startups (AGS), in collaboration with the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), has launched the 2023 Ghana Startup Week (GSW).

The Startup Week, launched on October 31, 2023,  was on the theme “Youthful Startup Innovations: Fueling Ghana’s Future Prosperity” It focuses on Sustainable Development Goals 8, which talk about “inclusive and sustainable economic growth, employment, and descent work for all”.

GSW2023’s key objective includes the promotion of knowledge management as an important driver of policy dialogue, good policy planning, and implementation, as well as fostering dialogues that promote the exchange of ideas and innovative thinking among researchers, development practitioners, policymakers, and other ecosystem players in Ghana.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, CEO of NEIP, expressed gratification towards the long-term sustainability, growth, and development that the GSW initiative will add to the Ghanaian economy, especially to the future of startups in Ghana.

The president of the Association of Ghana Startups (AGS), Mr. Solomon Adjei, reiterated the need for an enabling environment for startup businesses to be able to scale beyond the borders of Ghana.

The Ghana Startup Week, scheduled for December 12th–15th and December 20th–22nd, which will be happening in Accra and Kumasi, respectively, will host activities such as the Ghana Startup Ecosystem Summit, Ghana Innovation and Startup Awards, and the Ghana Startups and SMEs Trade Fair, among others.

The Ghana Innovation and Startup Awards to climax GSW2023 hope to celebrate innovation and startups in various sectors, such as fintech, e-commerce, e-health, IP/BPO, and agritech, among others, of which the top winning package includes a sponsored trip to South Africa.

The Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Agency, the National Youth Authority, Ghana Digital Centres Ltd., Ghana Enterprises Agency, Ghana Investment Promotion Council, Venture Capital Trust Fund, Ghana Hubs Network, Ghana Fintech Association, and IoT Network are some of the key partners of GSW2023.

Startups, innovation agencies, and other ecosystem players interested in participating in GSW 2023 are invited to visit www.ghanastartupweek.org to register as general attendees or exhibitors, as well as to nominate themselves or other deserving startups for honours.
