Creative industry entrepreneur and youth advocate Baba Sadiq has been appointed Ghana’s High Commissioner-Designate to the Federal Republic of Nigeria by President John Dramani Mahama.
The announcement was publicly welcomed by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who extended his congratulations in a social media post.
“Congratulations, Baba Sadiq on your well-deserved appointment by President Mahama as High Commissioner designate to the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I have no doubt you will hold aloft Ghana’s flag and make the youth of our continent proud,” the Minister wrote.
Responding to the message, Baba Sadiq expressed gratitude to the President and the Foreign Affairs Minister for the confidence reposed in him.
“I am profoundly honoured by the confidence of H.E. President John Dramani Mahama in appointing me as Ghana’s High Commissioner-Designate to Nigeria. I also appreciate the Honourable Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa for his support. I am committed to serving Ghana with diligence and integrity,” he stated.
Baba Sadiq replaces Baba Jamal, who was relieved of his post after deciding to contest the Ayawaso East by-election following the passing of the former MP, Naser Toure Mahama.
Sadiq Abdulai Abu, commonly known as Baba Sadiq, is a prominent Ghanaian media mogul and creative strategist. He is most recognized as the visionary behind 3Music Networks and the prestigious 3Music Awards, an annual ceremony that honors African musical excellence and pop culture.
His career has been defined by his influence on youth culture and the creative arts. He has leveraged his platform to advocate for digital transformation, economic opportunities for creatives, and the empowerment of the next generation.
Recently, Sadiq expanded his influence into the political arena, joining the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to pursue a career in public service and policy.
