The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has urged the public to disregard any reports or statements suggesting that a new producer price for cocoa has been announced.
In a statement released on Tuesday, COCOBOD clarified that no such decision has been taken, citing the absence of critical governance structures required for such an announcement.
“There is no Board of Directors in place, hence such a crucial decision can never be taken,” the statement emphasized. Additionally, COCOBOD noted that the Producer Price Review Committee (PPRC), which is responsible for recommending price adjustments, “is yet to be formed.”
“In view of the aforementioned reasons, there is no way such an announcement can be made,” the statement concluded.
The clarification follows reports circulating in some media circles regarding a purported lack of review to the cocoa producer price, sparking concerns among some producers.
COCOBOD advised that the public should seek official information directly from its Public Affairs Department.
