A renowned broadcaster and one-time director at the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, Godwin Avenorgbor, has died.
His death was confirmed by the GBC in a Facebook post on Monday.
“The Grandmaster (Godwin Avenorgbor) bows out; may his gentle soul rest in peace,” the post read.
He died on Monday, August 19, according to reports.
Popularly referred to as “The Grandmaster,” Mr. Avenorgbor is credited with playing a pioneering role in radio and TV breakfast (morning) shows in Ghana.
He also worked and consulted for both state and private media organisations locally and internationally.
In 2022, he was appointed Director of Communications of the Melcom Group of Companies, a position he held until his demise.
He was part of the organising team of the 75th anniversary launch of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) last Thursday.
