The Executive Secretary of the Ghana Hajj Board, Alhaji Farouk Hamza, said all is set to fly the first batch of 429 pilgrims to perform this year’s Hajj in the sacred city of Mecca on June 9, 2023.
He added that the pilgrims will begin checking in at 1:00 p.m., while departure will be at 9:00 p.m. from the Tamales International Airport.
The Executive Secretary further stated that all the necessary agencies involved to make the program successful have been engaged, such as the Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana Airport Authority, NACOB, Police, Fire Service, and many other institutions and agencies.
Alhaji Farouk Hamza reiterated that pilgrims are safe, as there is already an advance team in Saudi Arabia to make the process smooth and secure for all Ghanaian pilgrims.
“We are looking to have about 10 batches be airborne to Saudi Arabia this year, and each flight will accommodate 429 pilgrims,” Alhaji Farouk Hamza told the media on Thursday.
He sent a word of caution to Ghanaians who have tourism visas and want to perform Hajj, saying it is illegal and the Hajj Board has no hands in which activities.
“You can only perform Hajj with a Hajj visa in Saudi Arabia”, he remarked.
