The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has raised alarm over what it describes as a “purported collation or recollation exercise” of parliamentary election results currently underway at the Tesano Police Training School.
In a letter addressed to the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), the NDC called for the immediate suspension of the exercise and requested an emergency Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting to address the issue.
Hon. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, General Secretary of the NDC, expressed the party’s concerns, stating that the ongoing activity “appears to be conducted in bad faith” and could have dire consequences for Ghana’s electoral integrity.
“The manner the exercise is being carried out is a recipe for electoral chaos and malpractice,” he warned, emphasizing that such actions threaten to erode public trust in the EC and undermine national peace and stability.
The NDC stressed the need for transparency and inclusiveness in resolving the matter.
“We believe that the best way forward is to convene an emergency IPAC meeting today to discuss this matter comprehensively,” Kwetey wrote, adding that such dialogue would “ensure that any steps taken by the Commission are guided by the principles of legality, fairness, and consensus.”
The party further urged the EC to prioritize the sanctity of the electoral process and the confidence of all stakeholders.
It reiterated its demand for the immediate cessation of the exercise and the swift organization of an IPAC meeting to resolve the situation.
The EC has yet to respond to the NDC’s letter at the time of publication.
