The New Patriotic Party has formally endorsed Solomon Asumadu as its parliamentary candidate for the Akwatia constituency, following the death of the sitting Member of Parliament, Ernest Kumi.
Announcing the decision at a press conference on Tuesday at the party’s headquarters in Accra, NPP General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua said the National Council had reached a unanimous decision after extensive consultations.
“After several consultations and meetings by the party’s elders, the National Council unanimously approved Asumadu’s candidature,” Mr. Kodua stated.
A native of Boadua, Asumadu currently serves as the NPP’s constituency treasurer in Akwatia and is widely regarded as a grassroots favourite, enjoying the backing of local executives and polling station coordinators.
