NR: ‘Let’s turn all blue seats to green’ – NDC Vice chair advises youth wing

The Northern Regional Youth Wing of the National Democratic Congress has organised a youth wing orientation workshop in Tamale, aimed at mobilising support for the party ahead of the 2024 general elections.

Lawyer Rauf Halid, the party’s national vice chairman, said the northern region was first known as the stronghold of the National Democratic Congress.

He added that commitment and dedication to work for the party to win elections at any level in the country are the top priorities of every youth wing of the party.

“When I was the Regional Secretary of the party, we were able to calm down persons who were seen to cause divisions in the party by standing as independent candidates, which could have caused the party to lose most seats in the then Northern Region,” Lawyer Rauf revealed.

On his part, former Minority Leader and MP for Tamale South said the youth wing is not only the engine of the party but also the steering wheel of the party, given its central role in the party’s electoral fortunes.

He further admonished that the youth wing should always have their doors open and be ready to listen to all grievances from quarters.

“There’s much more work to do as the parliamentary primaries are over, which tells us to drag all aggrieved and members who felt like being neglected to the frontlines of the party leadership and activities with the aim of recapturing all lost seats back to the national democratic congress in 2024,” he added.

According to the organisers, the programme was held to strategize on how the NDC can recapture all lost seats in the region and ultimately win the presidential election in 2024.
