The principal of Bagabaga College of Education, Dr. Gazali Issahaku, has stated that the institution has lost about 15 tutors to main-stream universities.
Speaking at the 9th Congregation of Bagabaga College of Education with the first batch of the four-year degree programs, Dr. Issahaku revealed that the college needs more tutors to engage in order to fix the deficit of tutors in other departments within the college.
The principal of Bagabaga College of Education made an appeal to the Ghana Tetiary Education Commission (GTEC), the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Education to give clearance to fill in the vacancies, which will enhance teaching and research on campus.
Deputy Director-General of GTEC, Prof. Ahmed Jinapor, cautioned tutors at colleges of education on transfers. He added that the Commission is not against movement from one institution to another; however, according to him, such transfers are alien to the Commission.
He further expressed his gratitude to the council Chairman for his greatest contribution to fostering peace and harmony within the institution.
Hon. Ahmed Yakubu, Municipal Chief Executive of Sagnarigu, who represented the Northern Regional Minister, urged the graduates to focus and take the profession seriously, as they are the key to nation-building.
The 9th Congregation saw a total of 464 graduates who have successfully completed their four-year degree programs.
The ceremony was chaired by the Chairman of the Council of the College, Alhaji Iddrisu Adam, Yoggu Naa.
