The Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation into the vandalism of a statue of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, situated at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital Roundabout in Sekondi, Western Region.
According to the police, preliminary findings indicate the statue’s left leg has been damaged, and the accompanying plaque has been removed.
The police have assured the public of their commitment to apprehending the perpetrators.
“Efforts are underway to get the perpetrators arrested to face justice,” the police service stated.
The police are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in their investigation.
Meanwhile, the incident has sparked public debate, with some questioning the significance of the statue and the necessity of the investigation into the damage.
