Sanitation and Water Resources Minister Cecilia Dapaah says there are inconsistencies in news reports about the stealing incident at her residence involving two househelps.
Hours after the Chronicle Newspaper broke the story, the Minister has been the subject of public discussion.
According to the Chronicle Newspaper, the househelps, Patience Botwe (18 years old) and Sarah Agyei (30 years old), stole cash worth $1 million and €300,000 stacked in the home of the Minister and her husband, Daniel Osei Kuffour, at Abelemkpe.
The two allegedly also took other personal effects from the couple.
The theft incident occurred between July and October 2022, the report noted.
But in a brief statement on Friday, Hon. Dapaah noted that “there are noticeable inconsistencies in what is being discussed in the public domain and the thrust of the original complaint on the matter”.
“I am taking steps to examine the origins of the inconsistencies and will take steps to provide a detailed response in the coming days,” she added.
Meanwhile, civil society and anti-corruption crusaders have called for detailed investigations into the matter while urging the minister to step down.
Former President John Mahama stated yesterday that the appointees of President Akufo-Addo have not set good examples as public officeholders.
