Passengers across Ghana are set to pay more for intercity travel following a fare adjustment announced by VIP Jeoun Transport, effective Wednesday, April 8, 2026.
In a notice issued by management, the transport company outlined new fares across several major routes, including Accra–Kumasi, Accra–Takoradi, and Accra–Tamale, signalling a significant upward review in ticket prices. The announcement, however, did not provide any explanation for the adjustments.
Under the revised pricing, passengers travelling between Accra and Kumasi will now pay GH¢150, while the Accra–Tamale route has been pegged at GH¢210. Other notable changes include fares such as GH¢200 for Accra–Takoradi, GH¢220 for Accra–Sunyani, and GH¢410 for Accra–Bolgatanga.
The adjustments also affect multiple regional routes, with fares varying depending on distance and destination. For instance, Kumasi–Wa has been set at GH¢240, while Kumasi–Tamale will cost GH¢210. Similarly, passengers travelling from Accra to Hamile will now pay GH¢450, marking one of the highest fares on the list.
Transport operators in Ghana periodically review fares in response to factors such as fuel prices, inflation, and operational costs, though such justifications were not included in the latest communication from VIP Jeoun.
