Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has declared his unwavering confidence in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as the leader capable of driving Ghana’s economic transformation if elected in the December polls.

Speaking to journalists on Sunday, November 17, 2024, Mr. Kufuor highlighted Dr. Bawumia’s exceptional track record in economic management, innovative policies, and visionary leadership, which he believes can propel the nation into a new era of prosperity.

“Given the current global circumstances, I firmly believe that Ghana’s economy will experience significant improvement if Bawumia is elected as President. With divine guidance, he is capable of delivering on this promise,” Mr. Kufuor affirmed.

Pioneering Digitalisation and Tackling Youth Unemployment

Mr. Kufuor commended Dr. Bawumia’s groundbreaking work in digitalisation, lauding its transformative impact on key sectors of Ghana’s economy.

He also praised the candidate’s ambitious plan to train one million youth in digital skills, describing it as a critical intervention to address unemployment and prepare the nation’s young workforce for the demands of a global digital economy.

“This is the kind of leadership Ghana needs,” Mr. Kufuor remarked. “Empowering the youth with digital skills will not only create jobs but also position Ghana as a leader in technology across Africa.”

Transforming Infrastructure Through Railways

The former President also applauded Dr. Bawumia’s vision for infrastructure development, particularly his proposed railway project linking Tema through Boankra to the northern regions.

Mr. Kufuor described the initiative as a “game-changer” for Ghana’s industrialization, emphasizing its potential to reduce transportation costs, open up trade corridors, and drive industrial growth. “Such initiatives will unlock the country’s economic potential and accelerate national development,” he noted.

A Leader for All Ghanaians

Beyond his technical expertise, Mr. Kufuor highlighted Dr. Bawumia’s unifying leadership style and ability to resonate with Ghanaians from all walks of life. “I have observed his good conduct and unifying spirit. Dr. Bawumia is not only a leader of ideas but one who fosters inclusivity and national cohesion,” he said.

A Call for Decisive Support

Urging Ghanaians to lend their full support, Mr. Kufuor expressed confidence in Dr. Bawumia’s capacity to lead Ghana towards sustainable economic progress. “His policies, vision, and commitment to Ghana’s development make him the right choice for this critical moment in our history,” the former President concluded.
