he Parliament of Ghana resumes sittings today, Tuesday, May 27, 2025, marking the start of the Second Meeting of the First Session of the 9th Parliament, following a scheduled recess.
High on the agenda for this session are expected presentations and deliberations on the mid-year budget review, as well as key government policies relating to energy, education, health, and infrastructure. Lawmakers will also consider reports from various parliamentary committees.
The resumption comes amid growing public interest in governance, particularly in light of recent developments involving major state institutions — including the removal of the Chief Justice — and ongoing challenges in the energy sector.
In preparation for the session, the Minority Caucus reportedly held a strategic retreat over the weekend to assess its legislative performance and define priorities for the coming weeks.
Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin reaffirmed the caucus’s commitment to robust oversight and reiterated its long-term political aspirations.
