The Ghana Police Service has assured the public of robust security arrangements for the final rallies of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2024 elections.

ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Director of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service, emphasised that traffic management plans have been implemented to ensure the safety and convenience of supporters and other road users.

For NPP supporters travelling to the University of Ghana Sports Complex, those coming from Adentan are advised to use the left side of Ritz Junction, pass through the University of Professional Studies, and proceed to the venue. Supporters from Haatso are encouraged to navigate through GIMPA and exit at Legon.

Similarly, NDC supporters heading to Zurak Park in Madina have been urged to avoid major roads, including the Shiashie-Okponglo stretch, to minimise congestion and facilitate smooth traffic flow.

ACP Ansah-Akrofi also announced that some roads around the rally venues would be temporarily closed, urging the public to cooperate with the measures. “We encourage party supporters travelling in groups to adhere to the designated routes for smooth movement and to reduce traffic disruptions,” she stated.

The police further called on all participants to uphold peace during the rallies and the elections, reiterating their dedication to maintaining a safe and orderly process.
