The Member of Parliament for Adentan Constituency, Hon. Adamu Ramadan, has advised senior high school pupils against cheating in the West Africa Senior High School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) in order to secure their academic future.

According to him, cheating during exams can lead to severe consequences, including the cancellation of papers and the complete voiding of their three-year study.

He urged them to remain committed to their studies since that is the surest way of them having knowledge of the things they are taught in class.

Hon. Ramadan gave this counsel on Friday, August 16, 2024, when he distributed four boxes of Nataraj mathematical set to over 470 final-year students of the Fafraha Community School Senior High School (FACOSH) who are participating in this year’s WASSCE Examinations.

“This is something I do each year; I donate to the final-year students every year, and this year I visited them last two weeks, and they put their request before me that they wanted this particular kind of mathematical set, which I went and got for them, and they are excited about it and am glad,” he explained.

“I managed to get it for all of them, and I also used the opportunity to counsel them to learn hard so that they do not cheat in the process. If after studying for the past three years and the five minutes of cheating erupts all that you have studied for those years, then it becomes a waste of time for them, so I counselled them that they should remain committed to their studies,” the MP furthered.

On the issue of students performance, Hon. Ramadan revealed the gradual progress in students’ performance over the years but acknowledged that there is still room for improvement. He also noted that the current headmaster has made significant changes in the school, aiming for it to soon be recognised as one of the best in the region.

The Member of Parliament also responded in the affirmative that it was practicable for his party, if it assumed the reins of government, to pay the academic fees of entry-level students as contained in their manifesto.

The authorities and students of the school, for their part, expressed their gratitude to the MP for his gesture.
