The Member of Parliament for Adentan in the Adentan Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, Hon. Mohammed Adamu Ramadan, has made available some items worth hundreds of thousands of Ghanaian cedis to some constituents to support their businesses.
Speaking to the media about the rationale for the support, the Member of Parliament explained that the beneficiaries of the said products contacted him for help, and that was the only way he could help them.
According to him, most of the items were secured from the Microfinance and Loans Centre (MASCLOC), which the beneficiaries are expected to pay back within a stipulated time schedule.
“Essentially, what we have done here is to provide some of these things through the support of MASLOC; the tricycles are from MASLOC, and most of them have to pay back, and I believe that if they are able to keep to the schedule, most of the people are going to get more to support a lot of our people who are in need,” he added.
He noted that an open advertisement was made by his office, and those interested came forward to register their needs.
“It was an open advertisement, and anyone interested could come to the MPS office and file their requests; we had over fifty-something people requesting for the tricycles, but we were doing it in trenches, and I believe if the first 15 keep to the promise, it’ll help obtain more items to support other people who are equally in need,” he emphasized.
The items distributed included 15 tricycles. 5 poly tanks, 1 double-door fridge, 2 fridges, 1 freezer, 2 industrial sewing
machines, 2 sets of table and chairs, 10 ceiling fans, and 2 television sets, of which some went to individuals as well as institutions such as the Foster
Home Faith Mission school and some taxi stations within the municipality.
The MP charged them to put the items to good use.
This event was held on the forecourt of the MP’s office, near the Ashaley Botwe-Aviation Stretch.
