Controversial evangelist Nana Agradaa has been released from the Nsawam Medium Security Prison after serving eight months in custody.
Her release follows Ghana’s standard remission rules, having completed two-thirds of her revised sentence.
Born Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, the evangelist has since reunited with her husband and family. Her husband, Asiamah, confirmed her return home in a Facebook post on Tuesday, March 3, writing: “Thank God my wife is finally home.”
Hours before her release, scores of fans — including members of her church — gathered outside the prison clad in attire branded with her image, awaiting her freedom.
She is also expected to join members of her church later in the day for fellowship, marking her first public appearance since regaining her freedom.
Nana Agradaa was initially sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment on July 3, 2025, after being convicted of defrauding by false pretence and charlatanic advertisement. Her legal team challenged the ruling, arguing that the sentence was excessive.
Upon review, the Amasaman High Court reduced the term to 12 calendar months, describing the original punishment as harsh.
Her detention sparked widespread public debate.
