The Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD) has announced a delay in the payment of two categories of allowances affecting workers in the education sector after a technical fault disrupted its November 2025 payroll processing.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday, the Department said the allowances, which were due for payment in November, could not be processed because of a “technical hitch” encountered during the final payroll run. Officials explained that the temporary suspension of the allowance component was necessary to prevent a broader disruption to November salaries for all public sector workers on the Government of Ghana payroll.
According to the CAGD, proceeding with the allowances at the time risked delaying base salary payments nationwide. As a result, management opted to pause the affected components to ensure that monthly wages were released on schedule.
“The processing of these allowances was paused to avoid any further delay in the payment of November 2025 salaries for all Government of Ghana workers,” the Department said, adding that teams are currently working to resolve the issue.
The CAGD assured affected staff that the delayed amounts would be paid alongside December salaries. The Department confirmed that the combined December pay run, including the outstanding allowances, is scheduled for December 18, 2025.
