The Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has announced plans to dedicate part of her Common Fund to constructing a modern home for the aged and widows in her constituency.

Describing it as one of her most heartfelt humanitarian projects, she said the initiative seeks to offer “comfort, love, and dignity” to elderly citizens and widows who have long endured hardship after years of service to their families and communities.

Speaking at Manso Amenfi, the district capital, on October 14, 2025, Hon. Joana expressed concern over the living conditions of many elderly people and widows in her constituency. She noted that the proposed facility would provide a safe and peaceful environment for them to live, interact, and receive care.

“I have seen too many of our old men and women living in difficult conditions, and many widows struggling alone to raise their children.”

“This home will not only give them a roof over their heads but also a place to gather, share gifts, and feel valued once again,” she stated.

According to her, the home will also double as a community center offering welfare and social programs such as health screenings, skills training, and recreational activities for the elderly.

“It will be a place of joy, comfort, and unity — a space where no one feels forgotten,” she added.

Hon. Joana reaffirmed her commitment to working closely with the District Chief Executive, Hon. Peter Amponsah, and other local stakeholders to bring the project to fruition.

“With the advice and support of Hon. Amponsah and the community, I believe we can make this dream a reality”

“Together, we will restore dignity to our elders, care for our widows, and support those with physical challenges so that we can all live happily together as one family,” Hon Cudjoe said.
