The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has approved a scheduled maintenance shutdown of the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant, set to run from August 16 to August 30, 2025.
In a statement issued on Monday, August 11, the Ministry said the request for the shutdown came from the Ghana National Gas Company Ltd. (Ghana Gas) as part of efforts to ensure the plant’s safe, reliable, and efficient operation.
During the two-week period, Ghana Gas will suspend gas supply to allow for inspections, repairs, and upgrades to key equipment and systems.
The Ministry noted that the maintenance is critical to enhancing the plant’s performance and preventing future operational disruptions.
To minimize any impact on power supply, the Ministry said it has collaborated with key players in the power sector to put in place mitigation measures.
These include the strategic deployment of alternative fuel sources to keep electricity generation stable across the country.
“The Ministry reaffirms its unwavering commitment to maintaining reliable power supply at all times,” the statement read, adding that the public will receive regular updates on the progress of the maintenance.
