Vice President H.E. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has submitted that he is committed to taking the country to the next level of transformation if given the ticket for the presidency.
Addressing teeming supporters of his campaign when filing his nomination at the NPP headquarter on Friday, Dr. Bawumia indicated he has worked hard to be where he is today.
“It has not been an easy journey. It has taken a lot of hard work, discipline, and patience to get here.”
“I worked hard for H.E. President Kufuor as Deputy Governor at the Bank of Ghana, and I have worked hard as Vice President in assisting the President, H.E. Nana Akufo-Addo, achieve his vision,” he added.
Dr. Bawumia underscored the importance of technology in closing the country’s developmental gap, pledging his commitment in that regard.
“Together with you, I want to see a Ghana where we leverage technology, data, and systems for inclusive economic growth. I want to make Ghana the digital hub of Africa. I want us to bridge the digital divide and apply digital technology and artificial intelligence for the transformation of healthcare, education, and public service delivery, amongst others,” the Vice President disclosed.
“I want to see Ghana with an education system tilted towards STEM, robotics, artificial intelligence, digital, and vocational skills to cope with the demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution,” he explained further.
The Vice President will face off with nine other candidates on August 26 for the first round of voting, which his party says aims at reducing the number of contestants to five.
The next round, where a flabgearer will be picked, will be held on December 4.
Key candidates vying for the party’s presidential slot include former minister for trade and industry Alan John Kyerematen and businessman and MP for Assin Central Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.
