The Concerned Members of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) say that the party is fixing itself to win power in the 2028 general elections.

According to the group, since the party would not be fully ready for the 2024 elections due to member disunity, it would reorganize itself to compete and win in the 2028 elections.

At a press conference held in Accra on June 15, leaders of the group tasked members of the CPP to mobilize themselves and rise up for the party by organizing meetings at the grassroots and regional levels.

“CPP cannot win 2024, unless 2028, because by that time we would have put a lot of structures in place and done more grassroots work. We are using 2024 as a tested way for our re-organization”, the Education Secretary for Ahantan West and a leading member of the group, Isaac Kweku Annan, stated.

Mr. Annan admitted that the alignment of some elements within the party with the NPP and NDC is affecting their fortunes as they influence most of them with money and logistics, among others.

He argued that such tendencies make it difficult for them to organize themselves as a party.

For his part, a former Deputy Regional Secretary of the party, Joseph Kwadwo Afari-Yeboah, urged flagbearer aspirants to aid the reorganization processes by meeting the followers of the party in their local communities.

“We want our flagbearers to move to the grassroots, to the regions, to the constituencies, to the communities, and engage our people, understand the issues on the ground, and help in the reorganization process”, Mr. Afari-Yeboah said.
