A first half dominating play by the Seleção of Brazil secured them a 3 nil win over the Black Stars of Ghana on Friday evening in Le Havre, France.
The Ghanaians, who were rather lethargic in the first section of the game, conceded an early goal in the ninth minute following a corner kick conversion by Marquihos through a header.
This was followed by a brace from Tottenham Hotspur striker, Richarlison, in the 28th and 40th minutes.
The Stars were a much improved side in the second half with the introductions of newcomers Inaki Williams and Mohammed Salisu, but this was not enough to overcome the Brazilian defence.
While some fans applauded coach Otto Addo for the changes in the second half, affording him the opportunity to assess his players, others criticised him for fielding a poor starting line, including the likes of Baba Rahman, Jordan Ayew and youngster, Afena Gyan.
The team was also affected by the absence of regular captain, Thomas Partey, who was ruled out of the game after picking up an injury in the warm-up and had to be replaced by Baba Iddrisu.
The Brazilians were less hungry in the second half, albeit the Stars put up a spirited performance.
In a press conference after the game, Coach Addo admitted to making some wrong decisions.
“I will start with myself. Maybe that’s what was wrong.
I have to look at it again and question myself, but I will also look at the boys.
It’s not like when we play badly, it’s always on the boys, so I am involved as well, he stated at the post-game press conference.”
The Blacks will face Nicaragua on Tuesday, September 27th in Spain for their next international friendly as they prepare for the FIFA World Cup, which is some 55 days away.
