The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has disclosed that it has taken steps to privately engage the Inspector General of Police and the British High Commission in Ghana on the recent grudge between the two.
According to a statement on Wednesday, it said it had “initiated contact with both the British High Commissioner and the Inspector General of Police to resolve the issue at hand.” The statement also expressed Ghana’s commitment to continuing the strong historical bonds with the United Kingdom and further consolidating them in the areas of trade, investment and security.
The IGP on Tuesday responded via an official letter to a tweet by the High Commissioner on traffic violation offences by the #FixTheCountry promoter, Oliver Barker-Vormawor. His response has generated a public debate, with some criticising him for going overboard and others commending him.
On Wednesday, the NDC urged the Foreign Ministry to intervene immediately in the matter.
