Charles Bissue, a former presidential staffer, has withdrawn a warrant request he filed in court, preventing the Office of the Special Prosecutor from arresting him.
On June 22, at the High Court, Mr. Bissue’s lawyers informed the court of their desire to drop the application.
Following that, the application was dismissed as withdrawn by the court, which was presided over by Justice Abena Amponsah Buansi.
On Wednesday, June 21, Mr. Bissue turned himself in to the OSP and was subsequently arrested and released on bail.
Mr. Bissue was scheduled to appear, had earlier obtained a bench warrant through the courts, preventing the OSP from arresting and/or investigating him.
He argued that the Criminal Investigations Division of the Ghana Police Service had already conducted and concluded investigations into his work as Secretary of the dissolved Inter Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM) following a video expose by Tiger Eye PI.
