An integrated mobile app that combines data and technology to connect various stakeholders in the football industry has been launched in Accra.

The app named Socaloca serves to unite players and fans across borders and helps coaches, team managers, and agents, as well as scouts, reach out to their targets, thereby enhancing player mobility and marketability.

Additionally, the app helps referees stay up-to-date with modern trends in officiating football while assisting academies and clubs in filling any gaps associated with the management of their entities.

It is accessible to both males and females aged eight and above and allows players to showcase their statistics, profiles, and real-time starting line-ups to the public.

Speaking at the launch on Wednesday, July 17, Chief Executive Officer of the Socaloca, Lionel Roy, explained that the platform permits both individual and club-level uploads of player data, which is an advantage for individual footballers who are not associated with a club.

He noted that Socaloca complies with existing local laws and regulations as regards football management.

“We have worked closely with the GFA to ensure that Socaloca is complying with the GFA’s approach to football organization,”  he said.

Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association, Henry Asante Twum, said although it is overdue, the application will provide the opportunity for footballers to gain exposure from within Ghana and outside the country.

He added that most clubs in Ghana don’t see the need to invest in platforms like Socaloca, but others have invested in multifaceted platforms to showcase and market their talents.

“Socaloca is here to play a very important and huge role that has been left in our industry. I pray that it gives us the opportunity to be seen everywhere in the world, to go across the length and breadth of our globe, and to have the platform to market our players and give them exposure,” he stated.

He expressed gratitude to Lionel and his team for considering Ghana in launching the app and valuing the investments and efforts put into it.
