Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is set to file his nomination for the 2024 presidential election on Monday, September 9, 2024, at the Electoral Commission headquarters.

Bawumia will submit his nomination at 8:30 a.m., accompanied by his running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the party’s national chairman, general secretary, majority leader in Parliament, and a few party leaders.

In a statement on Sunday, NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong announced that Dr. Bawumia would address party supporters and the public after the filing at the party’s headquarters.

“Members of the Party and the general public are invited to be part of this historic moment of possibility in Ghana’s next chapter,” Frimpong added.

The NPP flagbearer will, following the filing, visit the national headquarters of his party to meet with party executives.

In a related development, NDC presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama will also submit his nomination on Tuesday at 2.pm.

In a statement, campaign spokeswoman Joyce Bawah Mogtari said, “This is a momentous occasion for the NDC as we gear up to build the Ghana we want together. Our campaign focusses on Jobs, Accountability, Development, and a better future for all Ghanaians.”

Mr. Mahama will be accompanied by his running mate, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang.
