The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of two students in connection with the assault of a fellow student at Obrachire Senior High Technical School, an incident that sparked public outrage after a video of the attack went viral.

According to the Director-General of the CID, COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, the arrests were made within 24 hours of her directive to school authorities to produce the suspects.

On 23rd February 2026, at around 9:00 pm, officials from Swedru School of Business, led by the Assistant Headmaster in charge of Domestic Affairs, Mr. Michael Nii Kwaku Buxton, handed over the two students—Benedict Appiah, 18, and Bilal Mamud, 18—to the Agona Swedru Divisional CID to assist with investigations.

The CID has commended the prompt response of the school authorities, describing it as “crucial in ensuring that justice is served swiftly.”

COP Donkor emphasized that investigations are ongoing and urged all other individuals involved in the assault to voluntarily report to authorities. She warned that failure to comply would result in those implicated being traced, arrested, and prosecuted.

“Violence in our educational institutions will not be tolerated. Discipline, safety, and accountability in our schools remain non-negotiable,” COP Donkor stated.
