The Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has marked the 2025 National Farmers’ Day with the people of Amuni, reaffirming her commitment to accelerating rural development and ensuring equitable progress across the constituency.
The ceremony, held on Friday, 5th December 2025, brought together traditional leaders, farmers, local authorities, and community members.
Hon. Gyan said Amuni was deliberately chosen to host this year’s celebration because the community has long been deprived of essential development initiatives.
“I chose Amuni for this year’s Farmers’ Day because this community lacks many amenities. Our roads are poor, and development has been slow. I want Amuni to also enjoy what every Ghanaian is enjoying,” she stated.
She extended her gratitude to the chiefs and elders for their cooperation and delivered a message from President John Dramani Mahama, who also expressed appreciation to the community for hosting the event.
Key Development Concerns Raised
Hon. Gyan highlighted several infrastructural challenges affecting Amuni, including poor road networks, lack of electricity, weak connectivity, and failed water systems.
She noted that during her community engagements, she discovered three boreholes that had been abandoned for more than a decade.
“I saw three boreholes that had broken down for a decade. I used my own resources to repair them so we can get clean drinking water,” she said.
The MP further pledged to drill additional boreholes and install poly tanks to improve water supply after the elections.
She emphasized the broader need for electricity meters, improved communication networks, schools, health facilities, and CHPS compounds in underserved communities.
“Some houses don’t even have meters. Many communities don’t have light, networks, schools, hospitals, or CHPS compounds. I have taken all these concerns to the government, and they have accepted to support us,” she assured.
Update on Major Road Projects
Hon. Gyan also briefed residents on major road infrastructure projects underway in Amenfi Central, following consultations with the President and the Ministry of Roads and Highways.
She confirmed construction work on:
50 km Bordie–Asankragua road—the first fully coated road in the constituency
53 km stretch from Asankragua to Wassa and Agyakaamanso to Sefwi Bekwai (Wonkyebleno)
“This is the first time Amenfi Central is getting a fully coated road. The government is committed to opening our constituency up for development,” she said.
