The Ghana Football Association has approved a proposed GH₵50,000 nomination fee for members of the association wishing to run for the position of president.
“We have not had any objection to the proposed GHC 50,000 by Congress,” General Secretary, Prosper Harrison Addo told members of the 29th Congress in Kumasi on Monday.
The 2023 fee represents a 900% increase from the GHC 5,000 charged four years ago.
According to an earlier communication from the Association, the increase is to cater for the rising cost of organising the congress.
The FA has been criticized for the poor recent run of national football teams, with the under-23 team, the Black Meteors, crushing out of the group stages in a tournament in Morocco.
Additionally, the current administration has yet to effectively address the continuous dip in patronage for the local premier league.
