Ghana’s Rose Yeboah has booked her place in the women’s high jump final at the 2025 World Athletics Championships after clearing 1.92 metres in Thursday’s qualification round.
The 22-year-old Ghanaian talent placed ninth overall to secure one of the coveted spots in Sunday’s final, set for September 21.
A former University of Cape Coast student, Yeboah showed composure throughout her attempts. She sailed past the earlier heights on her first tries before needing a second attempt to scale 1.92 metres, a mark that proved just enough to push her through to the medal round.
Speaking after qualification, Yeboah admitted the result was a boost following a difficult spell after the Olympics. “I needed this. After the Olympic Games, I went through a lot, but I’m happy I could make the final. I’m so happy,” she said.
The qualification adds to her growing list of achievements. Yeboah won gold at the 2023 African Games and repeated the feat at the 2024 African Championships. Now, she is aiming to break new ground as the first Ghanaian woman to win a field event medal at the World Championships.
With her steady progress and rising international profile, Yeboah will carry Ghana’s hopes into the final, where she has the chance to leap into the history books.
