The Government of Ghana has strongly condemned what it described as an “unprovoked” Israeli attack on the sovereign State of Qatar, which has reportedly resulted in casualties, loss of lives, and damage to property.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday, the government said the strikes amounted to a “clear violation of international law” and an affront to Qatar’s sovereignty. It further warned that the escalation undermines ongoing efforts to resolve the decades-long conflict between Israel and Palestine.
“His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama and the people of Ghana stand in solidarity with the Emir of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and the people of Qatar in these difficult times,” the statement read.
The government also commended Qatar for its “tireless and impressive commitment” to advancing dialogue between Israel and Palestine, stressing that the latest incident should not be allowed to derail diplomatic progress.
Ghana reaffirmed its support for peaceful negotiations and urged all parties to prioritize diplomacy over violence.
