A new survey by research firm Global InfoAnalytics shows that Haruna Iddrisu, Minority Leader in Parliament, has emerged as the top choice among voters for future leadership of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Although the recent showing by Julius Debrah and Asiedu Nketia has led many to believe the two are the closest contenders, the polls suggest otherwise.
According to the poll, Iddrisu secured 29.8% of voter preference, placing him ahead of the party’s General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, who garnered 24.1%. Minority Leader in Parliament, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, followed in third with 18.4%, reflecting his growing profile within the party’s grassroots.
Former Chief of Staff Julius Debrah placed fourth with 10.3%, while North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa secured 8.1%. Other notable mentions included Eric Opoku (2.5%), Prof. Joshua Alabi (2.2%), Armah Kofi-Buah (2.0%), Kwame Awuah Darko (1.6%), Dr Spio Garbrah (1.1%), and Okoe Vanderpuye (0.1%).
Global InfoAnalytics observed that the results mirror current voter sentiment and are expected to influence discussions on the NDC’s internal politics, even though the Mahama administration has been in office for only eight months.
