I pledge an innovative and visionary presidency – Bawumia

Vice President and the now leader of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has promised to deliver a different kind of presidency if voted into power.

Addressing party faithful in Takoradi during the launch of the NPP’s manifesto on Sunday, August 18, Dr. Bawumia offered to provide leadership that aligns with the current era—one that is characterised by integrity, transparency, and selflessness.

“The times we live in call for leadership that places you first. For selfless leaders. For leaders with integrity. Leaders who will put everything on the line and go batting for you, for Ghanaians, every day and night, no matter what it takes or the arena in which it happens.”

“I commit to you values-based, selfless leadership as your president. I commit to demonstrating to you, especially the next generation, that it is possible to have visionary, selfless leadership of integrity in your lifetime,” he said.

According to him, the Fourth Industrial Revolution, powered by technologies like blockchain, AI, and IoT, is rapidly reshaping and disrupting industries like robotics, engineering, and IoT, affecting various sectors, and demanding leadership with the understanding and passion to drive these.

He accordingly proposed, with the support of his running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku-Prempeh, to harness the skills and expertise of the youth in achieving relevance in the newer technologies, asking them for their support.

“We have an innovative, creative, and energised human resource base in our youth, with the capabilities to rise, under the right leadership, to the occasion.

“I have demonstrated my understanding of the issues, my commitment, and my willingness to lead Ghana, especially our youth, in taking advantage of the opportunities a digital, high-tech world provides,” he added.

Other key areas the NPP flagbearer touched on include using digitalisation to drive the economy, running a lean government, and operating a flax tax rate scheme aimed at boosting private enterprise and generating employment.

Also in attendance for the launch were key personalities in the NPP, including President Nana Akufo-Addo, 2nd lady Samira Bawumia, NPP Chairman Stephen Ayesu-Ntim, and Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markins, among others.
