In a bid to strengthen education in her constituency, the Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has introduced a Teacher Initiative to support community teachers across local schools.

The programme, which covers 34 basic schools, provides financial support to 134 community teachers serving a total student population of 8,391. According to figures shared, the initiative involves a monthly investment of GHS 466,760 in salaries for the teachers.

Some of the beneficiary schools include Agyedum D/A Basic, Obing Methodist Primary, Chichiso No. 2 D/A Basic, Akyemkrom/Antobam D/A, Nyamebekyere D/A, Adidase D/A Basic, Hiamankwa D/A (Aku Nkwanta), Nyame Dome D/A Basic, Juabo (D/A & R/C), Anyinabrem (Methodist and D/A), and Anwiafutu D/A Basic, among others.

The initiative seeks to address challenges in teacher availability across rural communities within Amenfi Central, where many schools rely heavily on community teachers to augment the staff posted by the Ghana Education Service.

“We commend Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe for her visionary leadership and commitment to education in Amenfi Central Constituency. Her selfless act will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the lives of students and teachers.”

“We pray that Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe continues to receive the strength and wisdom to serve the people of Amenfi Central Constituency with dedication and passion,” stated some beneficiaries of the initiative.

Education stakeholders in the constituency say the programme is expected to improve learning outcomes and encourage more children to remain in school.
