KAMA Group founder, Dr. Michael Agyekum Addo passes away

Kama Group founder and prominent philanthropist Dr. Michael Agyekum Addo has passed away at 74.

Asaase Radio reports that Dr. Agyekum Addo, a well-known figure in Ghana’s business community, died on Friday, November 1. He was celebrated for his entrepreneurial spirit, having established Kama Group, a diversified conglomerate with interests spanning pharmaceuticals, hospitality, and other industries.

Dr. Agyekum Addo also served as Chairman of the prestigious Ghana Club 100, an annual ranking of top-performing companies in Ghana. In 2016, he was honoured with the title Nkabomhene (Unity Chief) of the New Juaben Traditional Area.

In his early career, Mr. Agyekum Addo actively participated in workshops and training sessions, supporting the growth of emerging entrepreneurs.

He was awarded an honorary doctorate from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in 2005 and, notably, was among the 88 PhD recipients at the University of Ghana in 2022.
