The Electoral Commission (EC) has updated the results of the 2024 presidential election, which saw President John Mahama win.
This announcement comes as a final update to the earlier results declared on December 9, 2024.
In the final tally, released on Friday, January 10, 2025, and covering 275 out of 276 constituencies, John Mahama obtained 6,591,790 votes (56.42%), defeating his closest contender, Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who garnered 4,877,611 votes (41.75%).
None of the other candidates exceeded 1% of the total valid votes cast.
The EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa, clarified that the outstanding constituency, Ablekuma North, with its registered voter population of 121,269, would not alter the outcome of the election.
“The results as declared earlier remain unchanged, and John Dramani Mahama retains his position as the president-elect,” she stated.
This announcement solidifies the NDC’s triumph following the December 9 declaration, which was based on results from 267 out of 276 constituencies.
At that time, Jean Mensa emphasized that Mahama’s commanding lead was mathematically incontestable, even with results from the remaining constituencies yet to be included.
The total voter turnout for the elections stood at 63.97%, with 11,683,483 valid votes cast.
