President John Mahama has called on all Ghanaians to embrace the government’s Reset Agenda, emphasizing that the initiative is intended for the benefit of the entire nation, regardless of political affiliation.
In a nationally televised New Year address, the President reflected on achievements over the past year, highlighting progress in stabilizing the economy, creating employment opportunities, and improving infrastructure.
“Whether you voted for me or not, this reset is for all of us. There is only one Ghana—the one our forebears fought for,” he said.
The address outlined a series of economic milestones in 2025, including the reduction of inflation to just above 5%, the stabilization of Ghana’s currency, and an increase in both domestic and foreign investment, which the President observed reflected renewed confidence in the economy
Mr. Mahama also cited improvements in infrastructure, noting the rehabilitation of over 2,000 kilometres of roads nationwide, expanded rural electrification to more than 1,000 additional communities, and efforts to stabilize electricity supply.
He further stated that Ghana is on track to exit the IMF programme “with dignity, not as supplicants, but as partners.”
Youth development and employment were central themes of the address. “Our young people are Ghana’s greatest resource,” the President said, adding that growth in sectors such as construction, manufacturing, agriculture, and services is creating new opportunities for decent employment.
Looking ahead to 2026, Mr. Mahama revealed government plans to expand social and economic programmes, including Universal Health Coverage, digitalization of schools, food self-sufficiency initiatives, renewable energy expansion, and delivery of social housing units through public-private partnerships.
The President also highlighted Ghana’s international role through the Accra Reset Initiative, describing it as a framework to address global inequalities and promote Africa’s development.
He urged citizens, entrepreneurs, civil society, and the diaspora to actively participate in national development, emphasizing unity, patriotism, and accountability.
“Let us move forward with confidence, determination, and faith.”
