U.S. Embassy opens 1,000+ visa interview slots for next week

The U.S. Embassy in Accra has announced the immediate availability of more than 1,000 non-immigrant visa appointment slots, offering prospective travellers a rare opportunity to secure interview dates as early as next week.

In a public notice, the embassy indicated that the available slots are specifically for B1/B2 visas, which cover business and tourism travel to the United States.

The mission encouraged applicants who have been planning to travel to take advantage of the expanded appointment capacity.

“There are more than 1,000 B1/B2 visa appointment slots available in the next week — one of those could be yours,” the notice stated, urging eligible applicants to either book new appointments or reschedule existing ones set for later in the year.

The embassy added that the development is intended to ease wait times and accommodate increased demand for U.S. travel from Ghana. Applicants with already scheduled interviews are also being encouraged to check the system for earlier dates and move their appointments forward if convenient.

The announcement is expected to be welcomed by many travellers, particularly business executives, tourists and individuals with time-sensitive travel plans who have faced extended waiting periods in recent months.

Prospective applicants have been directed to visit the embassy’s official visa information portal for detailed guidance on eligibility requirements, application procedures and appointment scheduling.
