President John Dramani Mahama is set to address Parliament on Friday, February 27, 2026, when he delivers his second State of the Nation Address since returning to office, outlining his administration’s policy direction and legislative focus for the year.
The State of the Nation Address is constitutionally mandated and remains one of the most significant annual events on Ghana’s political calendar, offering a platform for the President to account to Parliament and outline the path ahead for the nation.
The address, delivered in line with Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution, will see the President present a formal account of the state of the country and set out the government’s development priorities before the House.
In Friday’s address, Mr Mahama is anticipated to highlight progress made in stabilising the economy, restoring investor confidence, and advancing key governance reforms since assuming office. Government officials have consistently pointed to easing inflationary pressures, renewed engagement with development partners, and targeted social interventions as evidence of steady recovery.
However, critics argue that while some macroeconomic indicators have shown significant improvement, the cost of living remains a concern for many households, and unemployment, particularly among the youth, continues to test the administration’s policy responses.
Questions have also been raised about the pace of structural reforms and the sustainability of fiscal consolidation efforts.
