President John Dramani Mahama will embark on a two-country official visit to Japan and Singapore beginning Sunday, August 17, 2025, as part of efforts to deepen Ghana’s bilateral relations, attract investment, and strengthen cooperation on key development priorities.
In Japan, the President will participate in the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD IX), where he is scheduled to address a plenary session on the theme “The Economy: Promoting Trade and Investment.” He will also headline the Ghana Presidential Investment Forum, showcasing opportunities under his administration’s “Resetting Ghana” agenda.
During his stay, President Mahama will hold high-level meetings with Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, the President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and senior executives of the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO).
Discussions will focus on trade, technical cooperation, infrastructure development, and long-term investment partnerships.
The President will then continue to Singapore for a three-day state visit. His itinerary includes a courtesy call on President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, bilateral talks with Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, and participation in the Africa-Singapore Business Forum.
He is also expected to address an investment forum aimed at strengthening private-sector linkages and promoting Ghana’s reform and investment priorities to Singapore-based investors.
According to the Presidency, the visits are designed to attract capital inflows, broaden market access for Ghanaian goods and services, and secure partnerships in technology, finance, infrastructure, and human capital development.
President Mahama and his delegation are scheduled to depart Accra later today.
