The government will launch a new initiative, which it says is a first step towards digitising the public transport sector in the country.

Dubbed the “Tap & Go” project, the initiative is being led by the office of Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia.

A statement by Metro Mass Transit Limited on Thursday, February 15, 2024, said that “the Tap & Go Transport Initiative is aimed at helping to formalise the informal transport sector with the help of well-structured and tested technology.”

“This project will help build a single system for the entire transport eco-system for all the various transport operators to enhance efficiency and bring about transport fare stability in Ghana,” the statement continued.

The project will be officially launched by Dr. Bawumia on Monday, February 19, 2024, at 9 a.m. at the head office of Metro Mass Transit Limited.
