The National Tripartite Committee (NTC) has approved a 10% increase in Ghana’s National Daily Minimum Wage (NDMW) for 2025, setting the new rate at GH₵19.97.
The announcement was made on Thursday, February 20, 2025, following a meeting in Accra.
In a statement, the NTC also confirmed a corresponding 10% increase in the base pay under the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS), which will be in effect from January to December 2025.
The wage adjustment is aimed at improving workers’ earnings while maintaining economic stability and ensuring business sustainability. The new minimum wage will take effect on March 1, 2025, with all employers, institutions, and organisations required to comply by adjusting wages accordingly.
“The national daily minimum wage has been increased by 10% over the 2024 rate, translating into a new figure of GH₵19.97,” said Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo, who announced the decision on behalf of the NTC.
“All establishments, institutions, or organisations paying below this amount must adjust to meet the new requirement.”
Ghana’s minimum wage increased from GH₵14.88 in 2023 to GH₵18.15 in 2024, but negotiations for the 2025 wage were delayed due to stalled discussions between organised labour and the government. Additionally, public sector workers received a 15% salary increase in 2024.
