In order to improve its leadership and efficiency in the run-up to the 2024 elections, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has appointed new officers to crucial positions.

These new positions were unanimously approved at the National Executive Committee meeting of the party held on Thursday, August 24, 2023, according to a press statement issued by the party’s General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey.

Three people—Professor Joshua Alabi, Dr. Samuel Sarpong, and Abdul Rauf Khalid—have been chosen by the party to hold the positions of vice chairmen of the NDC.

The party has also appointed former Minister of Communications, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, as its Director of Elections and IT ahead of the crucial 2024 polls. He will be assisted by George Atta Boateng and Wisdom Yayra Deku.

Kakra Essamuah will lead the communications unit and will be supported by Obuobia Opoku Darko.

Godwin Kudzo Tameklo will now serve as the party’s Director of Legal Affairs. Baba Jamal and George will serve under him.

The party also announced the creation of new directorates, namely Conflict Resolution, Logistics, CSOs, Inter-Party Relations, and Welfare.

Meanwhile, Dr. Omane Boamah has vowed to work feverishly to secure victory for the party in 2024. Responding to his appointment, he rallied party members to repeat the feat of 2008.

“We did it together and came out of opposition in 2008. We must repeat it in 2024 to build the Ghana we want”, he said in his statement.
