The National Identification Authority (NIA) has officially begun the issuance of a backlog of printed Ghana Cards and first-time registrations across all its District Offices in the Greater Accra Region.
In a press release dated April 6, the NIA announced that Ghanaians who applied for their first issuance, replacement, or update of Ghana Cards between June 2023 and now but are yet to receive their cards can now collect them at the district offices where they initially registered.
The exercise commences today, Monday, April 7, 2025.
In addition, all Ghanaians aged 15 and above who have never registered for the Ghana Card are encouraged to visit any NIA District Office in the region to complete the process.
The Authority emphasized that both the issuance of the backlogged cards and the first-time registration are free of charge. It has urged the public to report any NIA official who demands payment for these services.
However, services related to card replacement and updates of personal records will still attract the standard fees.
“The National Identification Authority remains committed to ensuring that all Ghanaians possess the Ghana Card for the purposes of identification,” the statement read.
For more information, the public is advised to contact the NIA on 0302 999 309.
