The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has issued a firm directive cautioning its members and aspiring candidates against engaging in early campaigning for internal party positions.
In a statement signed by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, the NPP leadership emphasized that “until official nominations are duly opened, no individual is permitted to engage party executives or party structures in any form of campaigning or soliciting support for internal positions.”
The party warned that such premature actions risk undermining internal structures and derailing broader strategic plans ahead of the next electoral cycle.
“Premature engagements not only undermine the authority of the party’s organs but also risk disrupting the careful and strategic efforts currently underway to reposition the party for victory in the 2028 general elections,” the statement read.
Party members, supporters, and stakeholders have been urged to exercise restraint and abide by the directive.
“We therefore urge all members, supporters, and stakeholders to fully cooperate with this directive and refrain from any activities that could compromise party unity or the integrity of our processes,” the General Secretary stated.
He further called for a collective focus on internal reforms, adding, “Let us remain focused and supportive of the internal reforms and efforts being spearheaded by the leadership to build a more formidable and cohesive party.”
Reaffirming its commitment to procedural integrity, the party assured that it would announce clear timelines and guidelines when the time is right.
“The Party remains committed to transparency, inclusiveness, fairness and due process, and it will provide timely updates on all relevant timelines and guidelines when nominations are officially opened,” the statement concluded.
